The Mineola Bail Bond System.

“Bail” is both an amount and a process. An arraigning judge will dictate a monetary amount that a defendant must pay the courts so that he or she can be free until their trial is set. Individuals are released under the

condition that they will appear at every court hearing including, if necessary, sentencing. If a judge does not set bail for the individual right after booking, then the judge will set bail at a separate hearing. However, the bail amount will probably already be determined by a bail schedule. The judge may decide how much you will have to post by using a Mineola bail bonds agency depending on the type or seriousness of the crime. He may take into consideration how many times the individual has been in trouble before. Due to the sometimes exorbitant amount of bail set against an individual, an agreement with a Mineola bail bond agency must be made if an individual wishes to be released from custody prior to their trial.

Although many people disagree with the amount they must pay to a bail bond agency, the fact is that at any time a defendant may decide they don’t want to go to court and they might jump bail against their bond that was posted for them. This bond is not secured by the bail bond agency alone, but part of an insured process worked out with a bank or agency. No bail bondsman wants to owe their bank or agency, therefore the Mineola bail bondsmen will contact a bounty hunter or act as bounty hunters themselves. This is less than ideal. It is expensive and time consuming. They do background checks and they make phone calls to your family member and friends. When they do find the defendant, they will automatically be arrested and transported to jail. All fees associated with the bail bond are now kept by the bail bond agency, and additional fees associated with the capture of the fugitive are now the responsibility of the defendant and the family.

Mineola bail bond agents have to meet certain state licensing requirements. According to MCKINNEY’S CONSOLIDATED LAWS OF NEW YORK ANNOTATED INSURANCE LAW CHAPTER 28 OF THE CONSOLIDATED LAWS ARTICLE 68–BAIL BONDS § 6802. Professional bondsmen; licensing. (a) No person, firm or corporation or any officer or employee thereof shall act in this state as an agent or solicitor of an insurer doing a bail bond business in soliciting, negotiating or effectuating any such deposit or bail bond by such insurer unless licensed by the superintendent as an agent pursuant to the provisions of this section. Any person, firm or corporation so acting without being duly licensed shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. (b) Every corporation engaging as an insurer in the business of giving bail shall procure a license pursuant to the provisions of this section for each of its employees, officers and agents acting for it in soliciting, negotiating or effectuating any such deposit or bail bond.

These licensing agreements are there to protect the courts, the bail bondsman, and you. Working with a licensed bail bondsman ought to provide a sense of security. The process is pretty simple and straightforward, but if you do have questions their rigorous training gives them the knowledge to provide you with the answers.
