The Bail Bond Process in Brooklyn

• Pay the non- refundable fee of ten to twenty percent of the bond in addition to collateral
• Check in with the bond agents office within forty eight hours after being released
• Make sure that you notify the bond agents office of any change in employment status
• Make sure you attend all of your court cases
• Cannot not leave your permanent residence without permission before the final disposition in your case is heard
• Provide the bondsman office with the proper paper work stating that your cases was disposed or exonerated

Failure to comply with any or all of these will result in the indivicual being assumed as having “jumped bail” and in some instances this will be considered just cause for the Brooklyn bondsman to hire a bounty hunter to track you down and place you back under arrest for having Bond revoked. And all collateral will be forfeited. And in some cases if your bond is revoked the likely that a Judge will grant bail again is slim to none.

There are two types of ways to bond some one out in the state of New York

• Post a surety bond—this is when a loved one or friend can go to a bail bondsman to post bail. In Brooklyn the fee for a surety bond is approximately 15% of the face value of the court set bail. The bondsman may accept collateral valued at 15%. In most instances you will receive your collateral back after you case is over.
• Post a cash bond—this is when an individual is able to pay the full amount of bail. Should the defendant or accused failure to appear on the selected court date the cash money that was put up will be forfeited
