Bronx Bail Bonds

When a person in the Bronx borough is charged with a crime during their arraignment they are remanded into custody until the date of their trial. The suspect can choose to stay in custody but that would mean remaining in jail until their court date, but since the courts are usually fairly full this could mean months. If an individual does not have money for their bail, and most do not, their only option is to go through a Bronx bail bondsmen, or a bondsmen in the city who is also licensed to secure bonds in the Bronx borough.

As most individuals do not have a bail bondsman present in court it is left to family members to solicit the assistance of the bail bondsman. The amount paid to the bondsman to secure bail is usually between 10 to 15% of the set bail. Most Bronx bail bond agencies will take cash, checks, and collateral worth the price of the bond. They are available 24 hours a day usually to meet the arraignment processing of the courts or magistrate. The Bronx bail bond agency will post bail for the individual so that the person can be released.

The individual will have to check in with the bail agency frequently and respond to the terms of the bond agreement. If you are negotiating for an individual in custody you will want to ask about all of the options available. Most bail bondsmen spend a great deal of time at the courts and can even be some of the best people to go to for practical legal advice. They can tell you what lawyers are good, what judges are strict, and how even to negotiate a lighter sentence. Most Bronx bail bondsmen have been there and done that and are more than willing to help.

Bail bondsmen are the first people who see the individual when he or she is released from jail. Because of the nature of the bail bond process they also become intimately involved with your family until the final sentencing. They will be there if the defendant begins to slip back into trouble and help them get back on track. If, however, an individual jumps bail on a Bronx bail bondsmen their only recourse is to contact a bounty hunter to locate the individual. Should that occur, the individual will be responsible for repayment of the money that was paid to the bounty hunter.

A Bronx bail bond is a contract between an individual that has been arrested and a Bronx bail bondsmen. The bail bondsman will eventually return the collateral or money used to hold the bond if the individual remanded is released by the courts, sans their cost. Considering that most individuals cannot post bail alone the only choice is to use a bail bondsman.

Finding a Bronx bail bondsman is not difficult. You can usually pass several on the street while driving. However, most people use the Internet or Yellow pages. Just remember when using the Internet that the bail bondsman must be a “Bronx bail bondsman”, meaning secured in the Bronx district.
