This is the same old story, happening time and again with only the location changing. If insanity is defined by doing the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome, then this is insanity.

Any person can post his or her own bail. If the defendant is financially unable to bail himself or herself out of jail, then any other person over the age of 18 may post the bail.

A welcome decision. I am an Indiana bail bondsman and here in Indiana courts have been imposing cash bail bonds as a revenue source in response to changes in the property tax assessment changes, the struggling economy and increasing costs.

The cash bail bond deposits are kept even when the defendant has appeared as ordered. Even if the case is dismissed or there is a not guilty finding the cash bonds withheld a public defender fees.

Needless to say, the forfeiture rates of cash bonds are much higher then commercial surety bail bonds.

Yes I agree, on the whole, the bail bonds industry has improved leaps and bounds ethically speaking. I cannot easily bad-mouth any of the competition. As long as more states stop relying on the pretrial release program, communities will be safer and pay less out of their own pockets in these tough economic times.

Bail laws are state to state and very confusing for the average person. Going through the bail process can be an emotional journey. Contacting a Bail Bond Agent could be the path for you. The agents I have worked with are energetic, tenacious and compassionate to my emotional situation. Having the help of someone who understand our legal system can help you focus on your loved ones.
