The Maricopa County Bail Bond Process
When a defendant is arraigned in Maricopa county there are several methods of being released from custody:
The most common occurrence, bail set according to a fee schedule usually requires the assistance of a bail bonds agency. A Maricopa bail bond provides a way for a defendant to be free until he or she is through with his or her trial. The individual (or the individual’s family), or a Maricopa county bail agent acting with power of attorney may post the amount of money set by the judge to secure the defendants freedom.
The Maricopa County bail agent will draft of an agreement between the agent, the individual, and the family members stating that the defendant will show up to all hearings scheduled. There will also be stipulations like the defendant might have to put up collateral such as the title to their car or, the deed to their house our family member’s house. The Maricopa bail agent will then ask for a ten to fifteen percent nonrefundable fee to post bail for the defendant. They will then assume responsibility for the defendant and will be responsible in the event that the defendant refuses to appear in court as ordered.
