Bail Counties
Bail bonds obviously cost different amounts based on the full amount of the bail that has been set. It could be a huge sum of money that is unrealistic, or it could be a smaller amount that could even be handled without a bail bond agency. However, when you’re dealing with most bail bonds, you’ll have to pay 10% of the amount of the bail to the agency up front. This covers their costs and allows them to complete the application. This 10% charge applies to 90% of bail bonds, but in the case of federal bail bonds you’ll have to pay a 15% premium, while immigration bail bonds are charged at a similar rate. These higher premiums are due to the extra risk and work that is involved for the bail bond agency by taking on these types of cases.
After the initial charge, you’ll have to provide collateral in order to cover the full amount of the Greenville bail bond. This collateral must be in the form of an asset, or assets that can be sold by the bail bond agency if forfeiture occurs and the full bail amount is demanded by the court. Collateral is important for reducing the risk to the bail bond agency, and it’s important that you choose genuine assets to cover the cost, but also assets that you can afford to lose.
As you can see, there are two main costs to bail bonds, but only the first one is normally paid. Collateral only becomes an issue if the conditions of the bail bond are not fulfilled, and so you’ll want to keep close track of the defendant to ensure that this does not happen. As you can imagine, if forfeiture does occur, the collateral won’t be your only problem, but it will certainly be a major issue financially.
